Comprehensive breakdown

Nothing. PeriTrace operates entirely without a backend server, user accounts, or analytics and crash-reporting services embedded in the app. Consequently, no personal information—including names, email addresses, precise locations, device identifiers, or usage statistics—is collected or stored. All application operations remain strictly local to your device.

The only exception occurs if you choose to email us directly through the support page's contact form — that opens your own mail app and sends a message from your own email address to ours. That message is handled like any other email you send, and only exists because you chose to send it.

PeriTrace requests camera permission so it can power its core AR pattern-tracing feature — detecting flat surfaces, showing the live camera feed, and letting you trace pattern pieces in augmented reality.

  • The camera feed is processed entirely on your device using Apple's ARKit framework.
  • PeriTrace does not record, save, or transmit the camera feed or any video/image frames.
  • Only the geometry you actively capture (vertices and marks you place while tracing) is kept, and it's stored as part of your pattern data — not as an image or video.
  • You can revoke camera access at any time in
iOS Settings → PeriTrace → Camera.
Without it, the tracing feature won't work, but the rest of the app (pattern management and canvas - where pattern pieces are viewed and organized) will.

All patterns, pieces, and exported files you create in PeriTrace are stored locally on your iPhone.

Saved files are stored locally in:
On My iPhone → PeriTrace → Saves
in the proprietary .peri format

Exported files are automatically saved to:
On My iPhone → PeriTrace → Exports
and will overwrite any existing files with identical names. These files are only shared elsewhere if you explicitly choose a destination in the iOS Share Sheet (e.g., saving to Files, AirDrop, or sending to another app).

If you use iCloud device backups, your PeriTrace data may be included in that backup like any other app data — that's governed by Apple's iCloud terms, not by us, since we have no server-side involvement at any point.

PeriTrace does not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. Consequently, no user data is sold, rented, or distributed, as no data is collected or retained by the application.

The app relies on Apple's built-in frameworks (such as ARKit) to function, which run locally under Apple's own platform policies. Apple's handling of on-device system frameworks is covered by Apple's own privacy practices, not by PeriTrace.

Because PeriTrace collects no personal data from anyone, it does not knowingly collect personal data from children either. The app is a general-purpose pattern-digitizing tool and is not directed at children.

  • Camera permission: grant or revoke anytime in iOS Settings.
  • Your patterns: live exclusively on your device. You can delete them at any time from within PeriTrace or manually via the iOS Files app. There's no cloud-based copies on our infrastructure to also delete.
  • Uninstalling the app: permanently removes all locally stored PeriTrace data from your device (aside from any files you've separately exported or backed up elsewhere). However, to regulate trial features without using a tracking profile or an online account, a local numeric token tracking your used trial exports will be stored securely in the iOS keychain. Because of native iOS system behavior, Keychain tokens persist on your device even after uninstalling the app and will remain dormant unless the application is reinstalled

If PeriTrace ever changes how it works — for example, if a future version adds an optional cloud sync feature — this policy will be updated first, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the change. We will not start collecting data silently.
